The conversation turns to ubiquitous legends of red-haired, cannibalistic giants among tribes like the Apache, Navajo, and Hopi. Daniel recounts the specific Pima legend of "Hauk," a violent giantess born in the desert who was eventually lured into a cave and killed by the tribe to stop her predations.

Observations of the Apache people on the White Mountain reservation reveal a shift from high-protein buffalo diets to high-carbohydrate diets, resulting in a diabetes epidemic. The transition from traditional nomadic lifestyles to sedentary reservation life has introduced dangerous levels of corn syrup and fructose into their food supply. Judith Vary Baker notes that cancer was virtually non-existent among these tribes before the introduction of modern processed sugars.

The Apache tribes of the Southwest reportedly utilized extensive underground tunnel systems to evade the cavalry, with some legends suggesting they protected entrances to inner worlds. Speculation links the location of underground nuclear tests in the 1960s to these sites, while linguistic evidence suggests the Apaches may have shared a recent common ancestry with Tartar Chinese populations.

The Apache Indians reportedly used extensive tunnel systems near Area 51 to evade the US Cavalry, appearing miles away without traveling across the surface. Researchers suggest that underground nuclear tests in Nevada, Russia, and the Hindu Kush may have been intentional attempts to collapse or seal these ancient cavern worlds.

Martin Ball discusses his transition from a philosophy major to a PhD candidate in religious studies at UCSB. His academic work focused on Native American traditions, specifically living on the Mescalero Apache Reservation in New Mexico. He studied Sanskrit and Navajo while exploring the intersection of comparative mysticism, the philosophy of science, and entheogens.
