Tatev Monastery and the Moving Pillars of Armenia
A 15-foot stone monument known as the Pendulous Column or "Gavis" at the Tatev Monastery in Armenia is noted for its ability to sway. This 10th-century structure was designed to detect earthquakes and, according to local legend, could be moved through consciousness alone. The pillar's survival while surrounding structures collapsed suggests it may be an ancient artifact around which the later monastery was constructed.
