Ben Joseph Stewart discusses his film Awake in the Darkness, which follows Aubrey Marcus through a week-long darkness retreat in Germany's Black Forest. The retreat concluded just as the 2020 global lockdowns began, a timing Stewart finds significant. He describes the film's focus on sound design and Marcus's internal psychological journey, framing it as a story of human self-discovery rather than a conspiracy documentary.

Ben Joseph Stewart describes his latest film, Awake in the Darkness, which documents Aubrey Marcus undergoing a week-long darkness retreat in Germany's Black Forest. Marcus entered the retreat in January 2020 and emerged just as the global lockdowns began, a timing Stewart finds highly significant. The film explores the psychological journey of self-discovery and the importance of rites of passage, which the hosts agree are dangerously absent in modern Western culture.

The lack of Sasquatch carcasses and reports of tracks ending abruptly in snowy fields lead some to believe the creature has a mystical or multi-dimensional component. Some researchers propose the "forest poltergeist" theory, where phenomena like stone-throwing, phantom smells, and voices occur without a physical creature being seen. This suggests Sasquatch may be a "walker between worlds" similar to the skinwalker of legend.

Paul Kimball compares famous UFO cases, such as the Rendlesham Forest incident, to elaborate light displays like those found at Burning Man or in Czech black light theater. He suggests that these manifestations are "on-the-nose" performances designed to elicit a reaction rather than provide a literal message. Like a Jackson Pollock painting or an M. Night Shyamalan film, the meaning is co-created by the observer.
