The collaboration between Neil Kramer and Niles Heckman was born from a desire to bridge the gap between high production values and deep philosophical substance. Heckman cites Philip K. Guffey recounts an interview with Tessa Dick, the widow of science fiction author Philip K. Dick, who described experiencing similar surveillance and electronic harassment in the 1970s. They discuss how Dick's novels, such as VALIS and A Scanner Darkly, mirror the experiences of targeted individuals. Guffey also mentions his friendship with Walter Bowart, author of the seminal 1978 book Operation Mind Control, which detailed the origins of MKUltra.
