Topic: House Of Este

The D'Este family of Ferrara is identified as the primary driver behind the Sola Busca deck's creation. Adams traces the family's lineage from the Italian Renaissance to the Hanoverian monarchs of England, including George I, II, and III. This suggests a continuous network of power—sometimes called the Brotherhood of Saturn—that transitioned from the Renaissance to the British Empire and eventually the United States.

The negative historical image of Napoleon is attributed to 19th-century British aristocracy and the House of Este. This propaganda served to protect the rising British Empire following its embarrassment in the American Revolution. Despite being labeled a tyrant, Napoleon implemented significant civic improvements and legal reforms that made him popular among the common people in the territories he conquered.

Of the nine wars during the Napoleonic era, Napoleon only initiated the conflict with Spain due to a treaty violation; the other eight were started by England and the House of Este. Bosley characterizes these conflicts as "Wars of British and European Dynastic Aggression." He argues that the demonization of Napoleon marked the beginning of philosophical collectivist assaults against charismatic strongman leaders.

The House of Este, the family associated with the deck, rose from obscurity to rule Ferrara and eventually linked to the Hanoverian monarchs of England. This lineage suggests a long-lived network, sometimes called the Brotherhood of Saturn, that maintains influence across the rise and fall of different empires. The tradition of ritual practice captured in the cards is believed to have been carried forward through these elite genealogical connections.
