Ed Calderon describes his recruitment into an experimental paramilitary police unit in Tijuana during the early 2000s led by Lieutenant Colonel Leyzaola. The unit sought to Americanize Mexican law enforcement through CALEA certification and training from Mexican Special Forces and U.S. entities like NSW and NCIS. This period marked the beginning of the militarized Mexican drug war under President Felipe Calderon, resulting in high casualty rates among the original trainees.

The "Zona Norte" in Tijuana, known as the Tolerance Zone, serves as one of the largest centers for human trafficking and prostitution in the world. Raids on these brothels frequently reveal women from across Latin America whose passports have been seized by traffickers. A significant portion of the clientele for these clandestine operations consists of Americans crossing the border for sex tourism.

The establishment of the US-Mexico border is discussed as a disruptive force that split the ancestral homelands of the Kumeyaay tribe, which stretched from San Diego to Tijuana. This historical context is contrasted with modern immigration discourse, which Carlwood argues often ignores the systemic "steamroll" of indigenous cultures. The segment highlights the heartbreak of families being separated by a border drawn through their traditional living spaces without their consent or consideration.

Stephen D. Kelly criticizes police officers for bullying behavior and "getting off" on putting families into poverty through vehicle impounds and fines. He cites FBI reports showing that police seized more money through civil asset forfeiture ($5 billion) than burglars stole ($4 billion) in a single year. The guest refers to corrupt officers as "road pirates" who decimate the working class.

A visit to Tijuana for dental work reveals high-quality facilities and professional service despite language barriers. Another anecdote from Acapulco describes a friend getting a chipped tooth repaired for $30 the morning after a physical altercation at a club. These stories are used to debunk negative American perceptions of Mexican infrastructure and safety.
