Ken Thomas, Steam Shovel Press Parapolitics Research
Host Greg Carlwood introduces researcher Ken Thomas, author of Popular Parapolitics and founder of Steam Shovel Press. Thomas explains his preference for the term parapolitics over conspiracy theory. The introduction mentions Adam Gorightly as a mutual connection and influence on their research styles.
Ram Dass Interview, Steam Shovel Press Origin
Ken Thomas recounts the 1988 origin of Steam Shovel Press following an interview with Ram Dass, formerly known as Richard Alpert. After a local newspaper declined to publish the transcript because the event had passed, Thomas created his own magazine to share the content. This publication eventually became a hub for various suppressed or niche research topics.
Underground Zine Movement, Paranormal Conspiracy Networks
Adam Gorightly reflects on the pre-internet underground zine movement as the primary source for conspiracy and paranormal information. He lists influential publications and figures including Paranoia Magazine, Crash Collusion, Greg Bishop of The Excluded Middle, and Ken Thomas of Steam Shovel Press.
