The Reese Commission and the work of John Taylor Gatto are cited to explain how the American education system was redesigned to produce an ignorant, manageable populace. Robber barons of the early 20th century sought to eliminate competition from free-thinking inventors who could disrupt capital-heavy industries. Examples include the suppression of hemp to protect timber interests and the acquisition of advanced capacitor technology by Lockheed Skunkworks.

Grant Cameron cites a story involving Ben Rich, the former head of Lockheed Skunkworks, who reportedly claimed that engineers had found a "mistake in the equations" and now knew how to take ET home. When questioned about propulsion, Rich allegedly asked the inquirer what they knew about ESP. Upon hearing that ESP implies all things in time and space are connected, Rich confirmed that was how the technology functioned.
