A.B. Krongard, 9/11 Put Options and Insider Trading
Alvin Bernard "Buzzy" Krongard, the former Executive Director of the CIA, is connected to suspicious financial activity preceding the September 11 attacks. Massive put options were placed on United Airlines and American Airlines through Alex Brown, a subsidiary of Bankers Trust where Krongard previously served as chairman. These trades, which spiked to 25 times their average volume, suggested advanced knowledge of the attacks but were ultimately attributed by the 9/11 Commission to an unnamed institutional investor.
