Topic: Orphic Egg

Twyman relates the myth of Mithras creating an heir by ejaculating on a rock to modern concepts of simulation theory and the "Saturn Cube." She references a 2016 news story about a group of anonymous billionaires allegedly funding research to "jailbreak" humanity from a computer simulation. This theme of escaping an artificial prison world serves as a primary motivation for the antagonist in her book.

Mithraic lore includes a story of the god creating an heir, Phanes, by impregnating a rock, which then produced the Orphic egg or a new universe. Tracy Twyman links this to modern concepts of the "Matrix" or a false reality, often symbolized by the Saturn Cube. The discussion posits that ancient myths of gods breaking out of or creating prison worlds are early descriptions of what we now call virtual reality or computer simulations.
