Locked-In Syndrome, Non-Material Communication and Göbekli Tepe
Scranton compares the state of the non-material universe at certain points in the cycle to "Locked-In Syndrome," where there is perfect knowledge but no time in which to act. Göbekli Tepe, or "Het Pet Kaya," is interpreted as a sanctuary built to facilitate communication between these "locked-in" non-material beings and material humans. The non-material side establishes societal structures and symbolic systems to ensure they have caretakers on the material side who remain aware of their existence.
