Mamluks comes up in 2 chapters across 2 episodes of The Higherside Chats Free Show, from January 2016 to December 2018.
Tarot History, Renaissance Italy and Mamluk Origins
The Tarot originated as a card game brought from Egypt by the Mamluks into Europe. During the Italian Renaissance, the game was adapted by adding the Major Arcana, which served as trump cards. While initially used for gaming, these symbols contained deep esoteric messages that eventually evolved into a system for divination.
The Mamluks and Caucasian Pharaohs of Egypt
Ivanova discusses the Mamluks, the last ruling class of Egypt before the colonial era, claiming many were blonde, tall Caucasians from the north. She links them to red-haired Caucasian mummies found in Egypt and suggests they were respected by the local population because they were caring rulers. She posits that the Mamluks were the last descendants of the original advanced survivors who maintained Christian roots before being forced into Islam.
