The discussion challenges the standard conspiracy theory of Vatican II, suggesting the CIA was the primary force behind the subversion of the Catholic Church. Author David Wimhoff’s work is cited to show how the Church became a tool for American doctrinal warfare during the Cold War. Evidence provided includes weekly meetings between Pope John Paul II and CIA Director William Colby to coordinate the fall of the Soviet Union.

Mark Booth claims that a young Karol Wojtyła, the future Pope John Paul II, participated in Rosicrucian spiritual exercises in Poland. According to Booth, a near-fatal accident involving a truck triggered an altered state of consciousness and a mystical experience that directed him toward the priesthood. This claim of Rosicrucian influence on a future Pope was a primary source of outrage for traditional Catholic critics of Booth's work.
