Jazz comes up in 3 chapters across 3 episodes of The Higherside Chats Free Show, from July 2014 to October 2020.
NBA Suspension, Utah Jazz, and 113 Gematria
Hubbard explains the scripted nature of the NBA's suspension on March 11, noting that Utah Jazz and National Basketball Association both equal 113. He details how the season's resumption was timed to the number 142, matching the Gematria of coronavirus. The discussion also covers NASCAR and the use of prime numbers in sports outcomes.
Diabolus in Musica, Catholic Church Suppression of the Tritone
Richard Merrick describes his discovery of the "devil in music," or the tritone interval, which the Roman Catholic Church banned for over 1,200 years. He explains how his university studies in Renaissance counterpoint revealed that strict musical rules were designed to avoid this specific interval. This historical suppression served as the catalyst for his development of harmonic interference theory and his investigation into how music was used for psychological control.
Jazz Drummer Jeff Hamilton, Money Bomb Prize Allocation
Jeremy outlines his plans for the $421 prize money, which include giving half to his mother and purchasing a "Squid of Power" t-shirt. He also mentions using the funds to attend a concert by jazz drummer Jeff Hamilton. The host encourages winners to use the "gift from the universe" to further themselves.
