Göbekli Tepe, Fertile Crescent and Instructed Traditions
Laird Scranton traces a global tradition beginning around 10,000 BC at Göbekli Tepe in southeastern Turkey. This region shows the simultaneous emergence of cultivated seeds, metalworking, and animal husbandry, which Scranton suggests indicates an instructed tradition rather than independent development. The lineage is tracked through the Shakti cult in India and eventually into the Dogon tribe of West Africa, suggesting a shared philosophical root.
