Derek Brose recounts his experiences with local media bias, including threatening legal action against outlets that ignored his candidacy despite his payment of required filing fees. He describes a dramatic moment at the Houston Chronicle editorial board meeting where he called out the board for failing to perform actual journalism. Brose argues that the media's focus on only a few "top" candidates creates a self-fulfilling prophecy that disenfranchises the public.

In June 1953, three witnesses in the Heights neighborhood of Houston, Texas, reported seeing a six-foot-tall man with bat-like wings perched in a pecan tree. The figure was described as wearing a paratrooper-style uniform and a glowing black suit before vanishing. A torpedo-shaped object was seen flying away shortly after, leading to speculation about secret military experiments or UFO connections.
