Topic: Hearst Castle

Jason Bermas describes a trip to Hearst Castle, noting the prevalence of occult statues, gargoyles, and depictions of the deity Pan. He compares the estate's atmosphere to Epstein Island, mentioning that Lady Gaga filmed a music video at the castle's pool near a bust of Pan. The discussion links the history of yellow journalism and propaganda to the eccentric, high-ground estates favored by the global power elite.

The physical inspiration for the Overlook Hotel is linked to Hearst Castle and a hotel formerly located on Lookout Mountain in Laurel Canyon. Snyder notes that Lookout Mountain was the site of a secret Air Force film studio used for psychological warfare. He suggests Kubrick used these isolated, high-society locations to hint at the decadent and dark activities of the Hollywood elite during the early 20th century.
