The Discordian Society originated in a Whittier, California bowling alley in 1958, founded by teenagers Kerry Thornley and Greg Hill. The duo conceived a religion dedicated to Eris, the Greek goddess of chaos, as a response to the perceived lack of order in the universe. After Thornley's stint in the Marines, the pair moved to New Orleans in the early 1960s to publish the first edition of the Principia Discordia.

In 2000, Adam Gorightly was contacted by Robert Newport, a founding member of the Discordian Society who had rescued Greg Hill's personal archives from being discarded. Newport provided Gorightly with boxes of materials, including the long-lost first edition of the Principia Discordia and documents related to the Garrison investigation. This archive serves as the primary source for Gorightly's books, including the upcoming Caught in the Crossfire.

Adam Gorightly details the origins of Discordianism, founded by Greg Hill and Kerry Thornley as a surrealist movement worshipping the Greek goddess Eris. The discussion explores Thornley's alleged connections to Lee Harvey Oswald and the Jim Garrison investigation into the JFK assassination. Gorightly mentions his book The Prankster and the Conspiracy and an upcoming project titled Caught in the Crossfire.

Following the interview, Adam Gorightly shares personal stories of synchronicity involving his research into Kerry Thornley. He describes receiving an unsolicited email from Discordian co-founder Bob Newport, which led to him acquiring the original Discordian archives. Gorightly and Carlwood discuss whether these events are meticulously planned or a natural mechanism of the universe.
