Topic: Dating Fraud

While Gobekli Tepe is famous for its age, Ivanova argues that its primitive upper layers may actually be medieval and that the site's fame is bolstered by mainstream dating fraud. She suggests the site may have been intentionally buried to hide the past from future generations. More impressive and potentially older sites are identified at Atlit in Israel and Sierra de San Cristóbal in Spain, which remain largely ignored by the public.

Ivanova critiques the reliability of carbon dating, arguing that it is often used to reinforce expected results rather than provide objective truth. She claims that the speed of carbon decay is calculated based on historical events that may themselves be dated incorrectly, such as the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. She suggests Vesuvius may have erupted as recently as 300 or 400 years ago, which would invalidate the calibration of many modern dating tests.
