The Dogon tribe possesses specific astronomical data regarding the Sirius star system that typically requires advanced telescopes to observe. They correctly identified the existence of a tiny white dwarf star, Sirius B, orbiting the main star and knew its precise orbital period. This knowledge served as the primary entry point for researchers like Robert Temple and Laird Scranton into the tribe's complex cosmological system.
