Topic: Ubik

The concept of "Ubik" from Philip K. Dick's novel—a divine force found in a spray can—is compared to Massive Attack's release of an album encoded into DNA spray paint. Elizabeth Fraser, who provided vocals for the album, is described as the "voice of God" in this context. The host notes the uncanny alignment between Dick's fictional motifs and real-world technological developments.

Host Greg Carlwood reflects on his recent attendance at the Astrognosis event, noting several "synchronicities" involving the books Ubik and Piranesi. He highlights a presentation by Mitch Horowitz on the Fourth Way, which emphasized the "debt" humans owe to the world for their existence. This perspective helped Carlwood reframe his recent professional burnout and find new value in the obscure teachings of Gurdjieff and Nicoll.
