Topic: Tantra Loka

The 10th-century Indian philosopher Abhinavagupta and his work, Tantra Loka, serve as the foundation for understanding sexual rituals aimed at spiritual liberation. Dr. Kujawa describes the role of Yoginis and Dakinis in passing down these traditions orally and explains the development of siddhis, or supernatural powers, as a byproduct of practice. She shares a personal account of a spontaneous Kundalini awakening that resulted in a perception of reality as pure energy particles.

The concept of "erotic rapture" is explored through the lens of Tantra Loka’s 29th chapter, which outlines specific criteria for reaching enlightenment through sexual acts. Dr. Kujawa explains that emotional detachment from a partner can sometimes facilitate a deeper focus on consciousness expansion by removing personal baggage. She details the physical sensation of energy moving up the spine and the resulting "goddess consciousness" that blurs the distinction between matter and spirit.
