Firefighter Cell Tower Study, Brain Anomalies and SB 649
A 2004 study of California firefighters revealed brain anomalies, cognitive impairment, and sleep disturbances following the installation of cell towers on fire stations. Despite these health findings, the Telecommunications Act of 1996 prevents local governments from considering health effects when siting towers. Firefighters in California successfully fought for exemptions from certain 5G deployment bills due to these documented risks.
