Mike Wilkerson AKA Stellium7 | Biogeology, Titans, & The Hacker Prince
Phone Freaking, Blue Boxes and Bill Gates
Wilkerson explains the history of "phone freaking," including the use of the 2600 Hertz Captain Crunch whistle to manipulate telephone trunks. He notes that Apple founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak began their careers selling digital "blue boxes" for illegal long-distance calling. Wilkerson expresses strong disdain for Bill Gates, characterizing him as a eugenicist who destroyed the early hacker ethos by prioritizing patents and centralized control.
