Chris Cornell, Jeff Buckley and the Siren Hotel
The deaths of musicians Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington are linked to the legacy of Jeff Buckley through a series of geographical and symbolic coincidences. Cornell was the executor of Buckley's estate and died near the site of a Native American siren legend in Detroit, just as a "Siren Hotel" was opening nearby. These events are interpreted as the siren archetype reasserting itself in mainstream culture through tragic, high-profile sacrifices.
