Personal Tragedy, John Anthony West and Egyptian Archaeology
Howdy Mikoski describes the personal tragedies, including his father's psychopathy and the murder of an ex-girlfriend, that led him into a deep depression. He recounts how a television program on pyramids sparked a life-changing interest in Egyptology. Mikoski cites John Anthony West's book Serpent in the Sky as a primary influence that challenged standard archaeological narratives regarding stone-cutting techniques and copper tools.
