Gary Lachman | Maurice Nicoll: Forgotten Teacher of the Fourth Way
Gurdjieff’s Travels, Sacred Dances and The Second Wind
Gurdjieff claimed his system originated from travels with a group called the "Seekers of Truth" and encounters with the "Sarumung Brotherhood" in Central Asia. A key component of his teaching involved "movements" or sacred dances designed to exhaust the practitioner and induce a "second wind" of intense energy. This physiological insight aligns with William James’s theories on the hidden energies of men and the potential for heightened self-awareness.
