In 2018, Illinois established a task force to explore using blockchain for food assistance. Based on behavioral economics theories by Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein, the system would use digital coding to incentivize specific food choices. This model of "coded behavior management" could eventually be applied to all public services, including healthcare and therapy.
