Steven Snider AKA Recluse | A Stanley Kubrick Odyssey: Film Symbolism, & Hollywood Scandal
Mae Brussell, Paul Krassner and The Realist Magazine
A connection is drawn between conspiracy researcher Mae Brussell, her neighbor Bill Kaysing, and Paul Krassner, the founder of "The Realist." Kubrick was a long-time reader of Krassner's satirical magazine, which influenced the humor in "Dr. Strangelove." Snyder suggests the moon landing narrative might have been pushed by Krassner as a "rib" or inside joke directed at Kubrick, or perhaps even encouraged by the megalomaniacal director himself to elevate his status.
