Topic: Original Sin

Dr. Hillman presents the thesis from his book "Original Sin," arguing that child abuse is an integral, foundational component of the Catholic Church rather than a modern accident. He describes early Christian exorcism as a "possession tech" derived from older pagan rituals, where ritual sodomy was used to assert political dominance over competing religions. This process was framed as a way for a child to "rebuke" sin and save their soul through trauma.

Greg Carlwood and Connor Habib discuss how the concept of innate biological greed serves as a convenient narrative for capitalists to justify systemic flaws. Habib compares the rhetoric of "New Atheist" scientists to religious concepts of original sin, where humans are born "sinners" (genetically selfish) but can be redeemed through specific intellectual frameworks. They argue that the rigidity of these scientific figures often provides fuel for religious fundamentalists by failing to address legitimate flaws in their own theories.
