Topic: Office Of Naval Intelligence

The formal alliance between U.S. intelligence and organized crime began with Operation Underworld during World War II. The Office of Naval Intelligence collaborated with the National Crime Syndicate to secure New York City docks against German saboteurs. This relationship expanded into wartime operations in Italy and later informed CIA covert activities, including the Bay of Pigs and assassination teams in the 1950s and 60s.
