Topic: Obstruction

The narrative explores the mutual animosity between Richard Nixon and CIA Director Richard Helms, leading to a strategic double-cross. Nixon attempted to use the CIA to quash an FBI investigation into the Watergate money trail by citing national security concerns. While the CIA initially appeared to comply after being pressured with information regarding the JFK assassination, they ultimately allowed the investigation to proceed, leading to Nixon's eventual resignation for obstruction of justice.

The conversation shifts to the "artist's closet" and the courage required to pursue a creative life. Duncan Trussell posits that the individual is their own greatest obstruction and that peak creative moments occur when the "little me" or ego disappears. This process of surrender is described as the key to successful stand-up comedy sets and writing sessions.
