Topic: Mysticism

Author Mark Booth, also known by the pseudonym Jonathan Black, returns to the program to discuss his latest work, The Secret History of the Universe. The discussion centers on the outdated dichotomy between science and spirituality, arguing that many foundational scientific breakthroughs were driven by mystical experiences. Booth has previously authored global bestsellers including The Secret History of the World and The Sacred History.

Physicists like Paul Dirac and Roger Penrose have described mathematical patterns as things they "discover" rather than invent, comparing the process to an explorer finding a mountain range. Esoteric thinkers suggest these patterns are actually living "thought beings" that exist independently of human consciousness. Scientists who capture these patterns are performing a role similar to ancient mystics who translated divine visions into human history.
