Mount Zion, Jerusalem Geopolitics and Two-State Conflict
Zionism is defined in this context as the specific desire to control Mount Zion in Jerusalem, the site of the former Temple of Solomon and the current Dome of the Rock. The ongoing conflict involves the displacement of Palestinians as Israel seeks to retake full control of Jerusalem. This geopolitical struggle is framed as the ultimate goal of modern Zionist ideology, moving beyond the historical need for a Jewish homeland.
