The TSA collected over $500,000 in unclaimed loose change at airport security checkpoints in 2012. Under the TSA Loose Change Act, the agency is permitted to spend these funds on aviation security without annual appropriation. Miami International Airport topped the list of collections at $39,000, followed by Las Vegas McCarran and Chicago O'Hare.
