The Scole Experiments, conducted in the 1990s in Norfolk, England, provide significant evidence for the survival of consciousness after death. Members of the Society for Psychical Research documented physical phenomena including apported objects, such as 1940s-era newspapers, and factory-sealed film containing spirit messages. These results challenge materialist models and suggest a structured spirit world capable of physical interaction.

Lance Baker explains the mechanics of pendulums as an amplification of the idiomotor response—unconscious muscle twitches. He discusses "The Swan" protocol developed by Bob Burns, which uses specific hand configurations to facilitate communication with the subconscious. Baker describes his experiments using these techniques to communicate with the land, ancestors, and spirits, noting that physical feedback often validates the experiences.
