The chronology of Unidentified Submerged Objects begins with a 1717 case in the Caribbean and a spectacular 1825 encounter in the South Pacific. While a 1492 sighting by Christopher Columbus is discussed as a potential early example, it is excluded from the official chronology due to a lack of certainty.
