Paul Shatzkin describes how an anonymous email in 2002 led him to investigate T. Townsend Brown, an inventor whose work influenced the Ionic Breeze air purifier. Shatzkin eventually connected with Brown’s daughter, Linda Brown, in Yucca Valley, California, to begin researching his biography. The discussion introduces a mysterious figure codenamed "Morgan," a former colleague of Brown who provided insider information for the book.

Paul Shatzkin recounts the process of sorting through T. Townsend Brown's fragmented archives with Linda Brown in Las Vegas. The narrative takes a dramatic turn when a man previously thought dead since 1988, codenamed Morgan, resurfaces after Linda receives a mysterious postcard signed "Norman Paperman." Morgan eventually visits Linda’s ranch in California to provide firsthand accounts of Brown's classified projects.

Greg Carlwood discusses a nine-year-old Reddit AMA conducted by Linda Brown under the username "Rittenhouse." In the AMA, Linda addresses questions about "breakaway civilizations" and her father's involvement with powerful men in the 1930s. She claims to have met the group her father worked with and asserts that they remained loyal to him throughout his life.
