Srinivasan Ramanujan, Goddess Lakshmi and Mathematical Genius
The case of Indian mathematician Srinivasan Ramanujan is used to illustrate the phenomenon of receiving complex information from non-human sources. Ramanujan claimed the goddess Lakshmi whispered his groundbreaking mathematical theorems into his ear, a process Pasulka compares to modern "downloads" reported by scientists. She emphasizes the importance of documenting these processes without imposing Western academic skepticism or "correcting" the experiencer's cultural interpretation.
