Skinwalkers and Shapeshifting Entities in Global Folklore
Native American traditions regarding Skinwalkers involve human-animal shapeshifters that many Navajo people refuse to discuss for fear of attracting them. Similar entities exist in other cultures, such as the Aswang in the Philippines and the "wizards" of South Africa, like Jim Mifalamaa. A 1987 South African court case involved a man who killed a creature he claimed shifted from a winged beast into a human male before his eyes.
