Grandma Hanlon, Midwife Vision During Childbirth
Joan Heitzler, wife of gynecologist Jack Heitzler, experienced a vision of her deceased grandmother, a midwife named Grandma Hanlon, during a difficult labor. The vision warned Joan not to take the pain medication Trilene; Joan refused the mask and shortly after vomited a large meal. Doctors concluded that had she been sedated by the Trilene, she likely would have aspirated and died, crediting the 22-year-deceased grandmother with saving her life.
