Robert Salas | UFOs, Missile Shutdowns, & Abduction Experiences
Excessive Secrecy, Security Clearances, and Taxpayer Costs
A 2009 ACLU study revealed that over 2.4 million Defense Department personnel hold security clearances, highlighting the scale of government secrecy. In 2010, the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO) reported 76.8 million classification decisions, a 40% increase that cost taxpayers approximately $10.2 billion. Salas argues this level of secrecy undermines democracy by preventing the public from effectively monitoring government activities.
