The Shakespearean history plays are analyzed as state-sponsored propaganda designed to legitimize the Tudor monarchy. Specifically, the play "Richard III" is described as a character assassination of the last Yorkist king to justify Henry VII's seizure of the throne. The 2022 film "The Lost King" is cited as a modern exploration of how these historical narratives were faked to benefit the ruling class and how archaeological discoveries are now challenging those myths.
