THC 114: Robert Morningstar | Secrets of the Solar System, Mythology, & Extraterrestrials
Mars Cataclysm, Valles Marineris and Hellas Basin
Observations of Mars during its 2003 close approach revealed evidence of a massive planetary cataclysm caused by asteroid impacts. Robert Morningstar describes seeing vapors rising from the Hellas Basin and discusses the formation of the Valles Marineris trench. He suggests that the destruction of the Martian ecosystem occurred rapidly, drawing parallels to the legend of Atlantis and the cyclical rise and fall of civilizations.
