Researchers like John Keel and Harley Rutledge observed that once a person notices these intelligent plasmas, the phenomena may begin to follow them. The appearance of the entity is heavily influenced by the observer's internal belief system; those expecting extraterrestrials see aliens, while those with traditional beliefs see fairies or "little people." This interaction suggests a feedback loop where the plasma reflects the observer's unconscious mind.

A 1970s study by Harley Rutledge at Southeastern Missouri State University is cited, which concluded that UFOs might be "intelligently directed plasmas" responding to microwaves. Schwab posits that nuclear detonations might disrupt the "ethereal ecology" of these sentient plasma beings, explaining why UFOs are frequently seen investigating or deactivating nuclear facilities. The theory suggests that while nuclear winter may be a hoax in the physical world, it could be a reality for electromagnetic entities.
