Reich’s concept of "character armor" describes how emotional repression manifests as physical tension, poor posture, and a rigid gait. This physical armoring creates a corresponding psychological rigidity, making individuals less open to new ideas and more "robotic." This work effectively laid the foundation for modern bodywork and Gestalt therapy by linking muscular tension directly to emotional health.
