Topic: Dumpster Diving

The guests describe "dumpster culture" at Acorn, where they reclaim high-quality food thrown away by companies due to bureaucratic expiration dates. They recount receiving vanloads of free avocados and other produce that would otherwise end up in landfills. This practice is framed as a critique of a capitalist system that locks dumpsters to maintain artificial scarcity while people nearby suffer from hunger.

The discussion envisions a future resource-based economy where children laugh at the primitive nature of capitalism and monetary systems. Examples of current absurdity include locking grocery store dumpsters to hide food waste and placing meters on houses to charge for energy. The hosts hope the youth will become like "indigenous people" who reject the mythologies and control patterns of previous generations.
