Topic: Dr Hilpricht

The source of "revelatory" dream knowledge is debated, with Copenhaver suggesting it often comes from the subconscious reorganization of previously studied data. He cites the 1890s case of Dr. Hilpricht, an Assyriologist who deciphered a Babylonian votive cylinder after a priest appeared in his dream. While the dream felt supernatural, it was actually Hilpricht's brain synthesizing fragments of archaeological sketches he had seen years prior in Berlin.
