Artist Dan Dutton's work on the "Secret Commonwealth" opera cycle coincided with paranormal investigations into the archetype of Pan in Kentucky. Both the Pennyroyal and Hellier teams independently focused on ritualistic attempts to invoke Pan in the cave systems of Pulaski County and Elkhorn City.
