Irvin disputes the account of Wasson's recruitment found in John Marks' book "The Search for the Manchurian Candidate." He identifies Marks as a former director at the Bureau of Intelligence and Research and claims the book's narrative was co-authored by Wasson himself to obscure his true CIA ties. Irvin cites letters between Wasson and CIA Director Allen Dulles as proof of their close collaboration at the Century Club.
